The City of Newport Beach is supporting National Tsunami Preparedness Week by hosting a workshop to prepare the community. The workshop will take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Community Room at City Hall.
The City of Newport Beach is a coastal community which has more than 45,000 residents that live in the pre-identified tsunami inundation area. Since 2004, the City has been actively planning and preparing for this low probability high consequence event. The city has been recognized by the National Weather Service as a Tsunami Ready Community due to numerous planning efforts.
The workshop will discuss the earthquake and tsunami threat to Newport Beach, what the city is doing to prepare for these unexpected disasters and what residents can to better prepare themselves.
