In celebration of the largest earthquake drill in U.S. history, National and local leaders will come together for a press conference, the Drop Cover Hold On drill, and an earthquake simulator, with a special focus on transportation and commuting issues during and after earthquakes.
Full Description:
National and local leaders will come together in celebration of the millions of Californians who have made themselves safer by practicing how to protect themselves during an earthquake. The public is invited to join Metropolitan Transit Employees and American Red Cross volunteers in participating in the Drop Cover Hold On Drill at 10:18 a.m. on 10/18/12 at Union Station. At a press conference at 9:15 a.m. elected officials and others will discuss the importance of earthquake safety, with a special focus on transportation and commuting issues during and after earthquakes. Throughout the day the American Red Cross will provide preparedness resources. The “Big Shaker” earthquake simulator will be available for news media interviews beginning at 4:30 a.m..
