Special attention will be given to members of the media providing an up-close look at The Great ShakeOut Statewide Drill, local preparation, resiliency and communities thriving and surviving the next big quake. Join The City of Hayward in participating in the World’s Largest Earthquake Drill -Northern California Media event on ShakeOut day in the Bay Area, Eastbay, Hayward includes: USGS, FEMA, American Red Cross, Simpson Strong-Tie, Hayward Fire Department, State and Local officials.
Speakers include: Sally Ziolkowski, FEMA Region IX Mitigation Division Director; Peter Lee, President of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California; Dr. Keith Knudsen Deputy Director ESC USGS; Emily White, Director of Preparedness American Red Cross; and local dignitaries
Demonstrations include: Hayward City Hall Earthquake Base Isolation System, "Big Shaker" Earthquake simulator (beginning at 4:30 am), How to Build an Earthquake kit, what to do in an Earthquake, and How to Retrofit Your Home.
