Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is bringing its Time to Talk: Earthquake consumer tour to various locations across British Columbia. IBC’s Time to Talk: Earthquake tour features the IBC Shake Zone – a portable earthquake simulator which allows consumers to experience a magnitude 8.0 earthquake in a safe controlled environment.

IBC’s Time to Talk: Earthquake consumer tour visits British Columbia
September 29, 2017 (VANCOUVER) – Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) is bringing its Time to Talk: Earthquake consumer tour to various locations across British Columbia. IBC’s Time to Talk: Earthquake tour features the IBC Shake Zone – a portable earthquake simulator which allows consumers to experience a magnitude 8.0 earthquake in a safe controlled environment.
“Experts predict that there is a 30% chance that a major earthquake will strike southwestern BC over the next 50 years,” said Aaron Sutherland, Vice-President, Pacific, IBC. “The Time to Talk: Earthquake tour gives residents the opportunity to learn more about the earthquake risk facing our region and also what they can do to prepare for an emergency. Governments, business, and individuals all have a role to play to build a culture of preparedness in British Columbia.”
IBC Time to Talk: Earthquake will be at the following locations:
September 29 – Squamish Nation: Totem Hall, 1380 Stawamus Road, Squamish; 12 p.m.-6 p.m.
September 30 – Whistler: Whistler Village Stroll, 4144 Village Stroll, Whister; 1 p.m-7 p.m.
October 1 – Squamish: Squamish Fire Hall 1, 37890 Clarke Drive, Squamish; 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
October 10&11 – UBC (University Commons, AMS Student Nest), 6133 University Boulevard; 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m.
October 12 – Langara College, 100 West 49th Avenue, Vancouver; 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
October 14 – Langley: Kwantlen Polytechnic University, 20901 Langley Bypass; 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
October 15 – Surrey: Guildford Mall, 10355 152 Street, Surrey; 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
October 16 – Pitt Meadows: South Bonson Community Centre, 10932 Barnston View Road; 2 p.m-7 p.m.
October 18 – Coquitlam: Pinetree Community Centre, 1260 Pinetree Way, Coquitlam; 8:30 a.m-3 p.m.
