Stories From The Washington ShakeOut

My drill consisted of drop, cover and hold under a kitchen table.

Then I sent texts to family members locally and farther away, reminding everyone of the procedure to connect with us if there is an earthquake, reaffirming how to connect with my husband and where to meet if we can't get home.

Reviewing the info on how to be safe during an earthquake was extremely helpful. Even though I thought I new how to be safe, I realized I was planning on walking farther to a safe place than I actually could have in a severe earthquake.

My husband and I talked about where to go in different parts of the house, covering our heads when in bed, how to attach more of our furniture to the wall, and how to attach our TV's (we have large old ones). I also found earthquake putty to keep smaller items on shelves from falling off.
