Great ShakeOut Selfies Contest

October 17 - 20, 2013

To celebrate the Great ShakeOut, the Cascades Region of the American Red Cross is hosting a Twitter contest to capture the best “selfie” taken during the Oct. 17 Great ShakeOut drill. A “selfie” is a photograph taken of oneself, often arms-length away. So mark your calendar for the Great ShakeOut on Oct. 17, and get ready to “drop, cover, hold on and selfie!”

Toledo Oregon Students Visit the Hatfield Marine Science Center

October 17, 2013, 9 - 10:30 am, Drill at OSU Hatfield Marine Science Center (Lincoln County)

Field trip of students learning about earthquake and tsunami related exhibits at the Hatfield Marine Science Center in Newport, Oregon. Students will practice drop, cover, and evacuation from the building at 10:17 am.

Disaster Preparedness Fair

October 16, 2013, 9 am - 12 pm, Preparedness Fair at Portland City Hall Atrium (Multnomah County)

Preparedness event with staff and volunteers from public safety agencies in Portland to promote what to do before, during and after an earthquake in support of the Great Oregon ShakeOut.
