Californians must get better prepared before the next big earthquake, and practice how to protect ourselves when it happens. The purpose of the ShakeOut is to help people and organizations do both.
The boxes below provide instructions for how free-choice learning institutions such as museums, libraries, science centers, outdoor areas, and other organizations can plan their drill, list tips for getting prepared, and offer suggestions for sharing the ShakeOut with others. With your participation, this may be the largest earthquake drill ever!

The ECA EPIcenter (Education and Public Information center) free choice learning institutions across California have been very important to the success of ShakeOut. Most locations promote the drill for several months, and several have major public events on drill day, such as the San Bernardino County Museum the Tech Museum in San Jose, and Balboa Park in San Diego.
