Full Description:
In celebration of its partnership with the Engineering community, Adventure Science Center assisted in kicking-off this year’s Engineering Week activities by hosting its tenth annual Engineering Day. During this exciting day, engineers showcased demonstrations and activities designed to interest and inspire young people to learn about the important roles engineering plays in our daily lives and possibly consider it as a future career.

In preparation for the upcoming spring severe weather season and in recognition of the 200th anniversary of Tennessee’s three major earthquakes in the New Madrid Seismic Zone, this year's Engineering Day activities included activities that demonstrated engineering techniques used to reduce the damage caused by natural disasters.

In addition, the Middle Tennessee Robotic Arts Society (MTRAS) demonstrated how rescue workers can use robots to assist in natural disaster rescue efforts, and the Nashville Amateur Radio Club gave visitors opportunities to see how ham radio assists with communication during emergencies. ASC's education team offered a variety of earthquake-related activities, including hourly Drop, Cover and Hold On presentations.

Engineering Day and Central US Shakeout activities were open to members of the public who paid the regular admission fee to visit Adventure Science Center.
