Stories From The California ShakeOut

The Plumas Amateur Radio Club held and Emergency Drill utilizing our Ham Radio Club Repeater on Mt. Hough, call sign K6PLU. The Net opened as a "drill" and was so indentified as the Roll Call began. Of the 54 call signs called on the Net, we had 10 responses or about 18% of rollcall. This number would be sufficient to begin a Disaster Response in our remote Sierra Nevada Mountain community at least for the first 24 hours. Of the 54 individuals on the this, approximately 6 were out-of-County at the time of the Drill; another 20 were working jobs where they were unable to respond; 12 as of this date have no radio (newer Hams); leaving around 6 people who could have, but did not respond. An EXCELLENT response for our area. Thanks for organizing this Event and the opportunity for our Club to participate.
