Stories From The California ShakeOut

This was our 3rd year participating in The Great California SHAKE-OUT.
First, all employees who participate are given a mini-kit filled with a water bottle, snacks, granola bars, first aid items, flashlight, candle, matches etc. Also, we encourage employees to bring their personal evacuation kit from home, to share with their co-workers. Those who bring their personal kits, are given a Starbucks Gift Card.
Next, we gather in the front office at 10:00 am and review our office evacuation procedures. When the alarm goes off at 10:15am, we quickly leave the building and meet at our pre-designated location. There, we discuss facts about earthquakes and even take a short little fun quiz.
After a few minutes, we file back into our office and practice Drop! Cover! Hold On!
Finally, we enjoy lunch together which consists of "Shake n Bake" chicken, "Richter Scale" rice, "Seismic" Salad, "It's not my fault" pound cake and "Rocky Road" ice cream.
All in all, it's a great success!
