Our office and the construction company visiting for a meeting participated by taking cover under desks and the conference table and then evacuating the building as if the main entrance was blocked. Once we reached the parking lot our COO gave a talk about earthquake preparedness and some of the main reasons people are injured during earthquakes, and what we, as Structural Engineers, can do to help prepare for future earthquakes and things to note during design to maximize life safety.
