Full Description:
MySafe:LA and the Los Angeles Fire Department, along with our Earthquake Country Alliance partners, will be hosting a Great ShakeOut Afterschool Fair at the LAFD Historical Society Museum and Memorial in Hollywood. The event is one of several preview events, designed to raise awareness, registration and enthusiasm for the Great ShakeOut earthquake preparedness drill, taking place worldwide on October 17th, 2013 at precisely 10:17 A.M., local time.
The Great ShakeOut Afterschool Fair -- which will run from 4:30 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., adjacent to LAFD Station 27 in the heart of Hollywood -- is open to the community and to the media. It will feature an appearance by the California Earthquake Authority and American Red Cross' "Red Table", a lively, interactive earthquake safety presentation, giveaways, as well demonstrations of "Drop, Cover and Hold On", Fire Extinguisher use, and "Hands-Only CPR". This is an excellent opportunity for members of the media to preview the Great ShakeOut, and to talk to some of the organizers of the events taking place on ShakeOut day here in Southern California.
