Summary:
The epicenter of ShakeOut-related activities in the High Desert will be at the Victor Valley Museum in Apple Valley on Friday, October 19 from 10am to noon.Please join us for an educational and fun-filled event, during which students will participate in the Drop Cover and Hold On Drill and be treated to an Earthquake Preparedness fair, complete with emergency equipment, emergency responders and earthquake preparedness educational activities.


Full Description:
Millions of Californians will participate in the Great California ShakeOut, the largest earthquake drill in history, at 10:18am on October 18, 2012. The ShakeOut is organized to inspire Californians to get ready for big earthquakes and also practice how to protect ourselves when it happens.

The epicenter of ShakeOut-related activities in the High Desert will be at the Victor Valley Museum in Apple Valley on Friday, October 19 from 10am to noon. Please join us for an educational and fun-filled event, during which students will participate in the Drop Cover and Hold On Drill and be treated to an Earthquake Preparedness fair, complete with emergency equipment, emergency responders and earthquake preparedness educational activities.

• Hear remarks by San Bernardino County Board members, fire officials and a representative of the California Seismic Safety Commission

• Visit the Earthquake Preparedness Fair

• Learn the Seven Steps to Earthquake Safety

• Discover “The Science behind the ShakeOut, “with Senior Curator Kathleen Springer

During the ShakeOut event and activities, museum admission fees will be waived.
